The research continues

The research continues in specific I wanted to research more into the textures of the maps and how I would use textures to make things look let’s say “Sci Fi’y”.

After searching in Google Images Sci fi building I came across this.

This one image gave me a clear Idea of how I would texture the walls to suit my outside map. I would go for a metal metallic template to texture my walls and other features of my map like ramps and walkways. This means the colour palate like a wood texture would not work to make me achieve the Sci fi feel and look.
This brings me onto another topic which is lighting. Lighting especially in the dark can really effect how a level will feel and even play to the consumer. The colour of lighting can also affect the mood and atmosphere I though I’ll use different colour of lighting to portray the mood of that certain area. Like red lighting in certain areas can portray a mood of aggression where the battle would really heat up. After messing about with the lighting I found out you can change the distance, diffusion of the lighting which really helped to create the atmosphere and the mood I wanted.
